#TeamLayaoEats: Khanzu Hand Pulled Noodles


Dear Fordy, 

Last Wednesday, your Dad went with me to LTO in Tiendesitas so I can get a student driver's permit again and hopefully I'll get to drive Poppy legally because I can see she is sad in the garage haha! The process went smooth, I spent about 30 minutes and voila... I got a paper permit! Welcome to the republic of no plate and no plastic license cards haha! 

Anyway, it was already 10:30 am and we are still going to Chapel of Pedro Calungsod in SM Aura for the weekly novena and mass. I was already hangry. Your Dad asked if I want to grab a bite in the nearby SM Hypermarket. Of course! I said. 

I did not get a chance to choose among the food stalls and restaurants because your Dad asked me if I wanted to eat at Khanzu. Hmmm, hand pulled noodles, why not? We headed inside and asked the crew for their coldest spot because temperature outside was freakin' feverish! He showed us to a table in front of the counter where the a/c vent is near. Great! Perfect spot for a hot soup! 

Your Dad asked if I wanted a hot soup or a dry noodles, told him we should have one of each. We asked the lady crew if the serving is for sharing and she said it is for one person only. So I got the YuXiang Eggplant with Spicy Minced Pork Dry Noodles and your dad got a bowl of Khanzu Special Braised Beef Noodles. We also got 1 serving each of Sharksfin Dumpling and Chicken Ginger Dumpling. I wanted to try their refreshers but I am cutting down on iced tea so I drowned myself in water instead. 

We were told wait time is 10-15 minutes which is fine as long as the food is hot when served. A crew brought us a small plate of sweet crunchy nachos which I am guessing are  deep fried wanton wrappers. It tastes good! He also brought us 2 small bowls of hot soup. Perfect while waiting! 

After less than 15 minutes, food was served. The lady lied to me. Fordy, the serving was huge hahaha! 

YuXiang Eggplant with Spicy Minced Pork Dry Noodles

My eyes glowed at the sight of fried eggplant, those are my favorite! The noodles is fresh, nice. I wasn't able to take a picture of what your dad got. I forgot because my bowl made me busy. 

Chicken Ginger Dumpling

This chicken ginger dumpling is perfect! It bursts of flavor and the serving is generously big than the usual dumpling we buy. Seven pieces for Php125, not bad. It has it's own dip but I prefer my chili soy sauce. 

The sharksfin dumpling though is a major disappointment. I couldn't find the sharksfin anywhere in there haha! It tastes bland and it's filled with extenders. Nope, not getting another serving ever! 

We spent Php600 for our "let's-grab-a-bite-turned-heavy-lunch". It was worth every cent. Well, except for the sharksfin dumpling LOL! 

I found a video on Youtube on how hand pulled noodles are made and it's amazing! 

After watching this, you are going to enjoy and savor every bite of a hand pulled noodle! 

They also have a branch in Timog so now I know where to "grab a bite" during your Ate Bambam's workshop. 

Anyway, we are home early today. Amazing but true, your Dad picked me up at the office at 9am which is 2 hours early. We headed to the bank to pay bills then we headed home. We got home at 10:30am, isn't that great? Now your Dad is slumped at the sofa in the living room, honking. I am sleeping in a bit. I need to catch up on my Z's. 

Update on Fordy Gives Back: I am having shirts with your photo printed for that event. I am excited! 

I miss you every day, Fordy. I miss you to bits! 

I will talk to you again when I wake up.
